It can be a very frustrating experience. TripAdvisor will allow you to request the removal of a review on the profile of your hospitality business. However, it is encumbent upon the business owner to prove that the offending review is not genuine. If they cannot satisfy TripAdvisor's requirements for this, the review stays.
If you have been experiencing a number of malicious reviews and that these are from people that you believe are not:
a) Real people
b) Are real people, but who have not visited your business.
c) Violate TripAdvisor's other rules for leaving reviews,
(You can read the complete guidelines for reviews here: https://www.tripadvisorsupport.com/hc/en-gb/articles/200614797 )
Then, It would be a good idea to at least try and have these reviews removed following TripAdisor's Guidelines:
- use the "report problem with review" link found on the "manage your listing" tab of your owner's center.
If you are not the owner or an employee of the business
- use the "report problem with review" link found at the bottom of the review. If you own or are employed by the business
In either case, they do not notify the reporter (you) of what they decide to do with the review. You'll only know if they decide to remove the review if it disappears and it can take several weeks for them to take that action.
For Quicker Results
The alternative and highly effective course of action is to take back control of your TripAdvisor the same way as this restaurant did. You can find more details in this case-study:
